To the Editor:
On Jan. 12, voters of the 37th District can elect Dave Marsden to the State Senate. With two terms as delegate under his belt, Dave knows his way around Richmond. He is the only legislator who also served as head of a state agency (director, Juvenile Justice Department) and has 17 years of public service experience right here in Fairfax County.
Dave's successful no-nonsense, business-like leadership rises above partisan paralysis to devise solutions to achieve adequate funding of our schools and to seek real transportation solutions. As a moderate with many friends in the legislator, his encompassing style contrasts sharply with the "culture warrior" approach of others that leads to governmental gridlock.
Virginia benefits most from the reasonable expression of many viewpoints, but we are in danger of becoming a one-party state. Electing Dave Marsden as our state senator will strike a victory for reason and moderation and keep in place a Democratic senate majority ensuring broadest representation of all people in our state.
Special elections usually have small voter turnouts. Let's change that. Democracy belongs to those who show up. Join me on Jan. 12 to elect Dave Marsden.
